X80 Buckeye CAM Long Range Wireless Cameras use a 5MP image sensor. If there is enough available light, the camera will take a color picture (or video). If there is not enough available light, a black and white infrared picture (or video) will be taken. The infrared flash is invisible to the human eye. Power is supplied to the camera from an external battery pack. The battery pack uses a 12V sealed lead-acid type battery. (Battery not included).

A bracket and spring buckle strap attach to the back of the enclosures to allow for easy mounting. The 12V SLA battery pack may be placed on the ground or behind the tree. This typically makes it easier to conceal in weeds or bushes. The camera and battery pack are housed in weatherproof enclosures for reliable outdoor operation. The standard colour is tactical black.

When a camera detects motion, a picture or video is immediately taken and transmitted to a base receiver. Several different base options are available. Pictures and videos may be viewed on a personal computer, smartphone or mobile device by using the X-Series Network Manager software application.

Optional solar panel kits are available to extend battery life indefinitely. The cameras can be up to two kilometres (line of sight) from the base and the transmission distance can be increased to several kilometres using high gain antennas or by repeating through other cameras or other X80 series devices or repeaters.

The X80 wireless camera has a Built in "Repeater" feature that allows you to jump from camera to camera to extend your overall transmission range. The X80 cameras can also be easily used as a "base" for multiple X80 cameras (all pictures come back to that camera and are stored on an SD card) or you can choose the PC Base or 3G/4G Telstra Cell Base unit to control up to 254 X80 cameras remotely from your MAC or Windows PC.

I have tried several other cameras that in general have turned out to be throw a ways after a one or two seasons in the elements. These other cameras also chew through batteries and were poorly built units. The costs of replacing batteries alone over the course of a year added up to the cost of a BuckEye Cam. I went on a search to find a quality camera and did so when I found the BuckEye Cam. I am the first to admit that the upfront cost of the wireless system can appear to be a little shocking, but like with anything you get what you pay for. These cameras are user friendly, built USA tough with an industrial strength enclosure, take great daytime pictures and use infrared covert technology at night. There are also many extras that come with the BuckEye Cam that the other companies don't offer. The wireless system works great with no monthly fees and the X80 cameras) are spot on. These systems are easy to maintain and have a ton of settings that can easily be changed by even a novice user. I have not had issues with any of the BuckEye cameras that I have but I am sure that if I did they would be quick to respond and promptly take care of any problems you may experience with them.
